✨ September 2025 Newsletter ✨

(modified version)

As the warm days transform into cooler evenings here in the Northern Hemisphere, families are transitioning more into new routines and a season of refocusing. If you were one of the lucky ones, you might have been able to squeeze in one more vacation before the kiddos headed back to school (or school at home). Maybe you were able to enjoy one last summer evening outdoors with some live music, or take a trip to the sea salt breeze.

No matter where these remaining days of summer take you and your loved ones, I wish for an abundance of health and heart-to-heart connection all around you.

Here at my practice, we are also heading into a new season of opportunity and connection as adult group classes and workshops take form by this weekend. Amid the hustle and bustle of making sure I support everyone as much as possible, there’s a gentle self-awareness here to return to the delicate balance of flowing in action and also resting. When we get swept up by the busyness that comes with life, the sympathetic nervous system becomes overactive and goes into fight-or-flight mode.

I’ve watched myself pause in reflection of this dynamic:

“I’m so busy and it’s all for good reasons, so why does my body feel stressed?”

The thing is, the brain perceives long lists of tasks and responsibilities as a form of threat. You read that right. Threats aren’t always obvious like living in a war zone or encountering a giant bear on a hiking trail.

When we’re constantly busy, and don’t prioritize space to be in the present moment, our system remains on high alert.

So, what are some realistic yet empowering and individualized solutions since we can’t just all drop everything and hop on a private jet to an extravagant island or a mountain resort for a few months at a time?

Stay tuned for more, or sign up for a virtual tea time session with me.

New home: how it’s going 😊

As many of you know, my practice aligned with a customized three-room space in Glen Lochen at Glastonbury Center last fall after a number of years of doing virtual sessions or home visits and renting part-time spaces across the Springfield (Mass.) and Greater Hartford (Conn.) areas. I’ve been so fortunate to have this new home for my business and to get to design it and make it my own. Many of you have been noticing the updates and furnishings added here and there. Thank you for encouraging me in this unfolding process. Follow along @TheHolisticSLP. 🔗

Stay tuned for the second open house at my Glastonbury location. The unit’s plumbing is now complete, just in time for this month’s first wave of classes. 🎉

I will continue to practice at my Northampton location once a week on Sunday afternoons. Equally grateful, my schedule there has filled up quickly each month. If you are using JaneApp to book appointments, please consider the waitlist feature, which allows you to be notified immediately of any cancellations/openings for your desired dates. You also have the option of virtual visits with me if availability opens up for other days or evenings. 👩🏻‍💻

It’s cilantro season! Do you detox with this herb? 🌿

Growing up with key teachings from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in my family, I was always curious about how food is medicine and noticing how the body is so connected to the environment. One herb that is prevalent in our home-cooked meals, especially as large quantities in ancient passed-down recipes for our cultural holidays, is cilantro aka Chinese parsley, or 芫茜 (yuan sai), which is not parsley.

Lately, a number of the adults and children I get to support in my holistic practice have been asking about cilantro as a gentler chelating agent than zeolite products for heavy metal detox. Keeping in mind that clinical studies have not yet been able to demonstrate cilantro as an effective chelating agent in humans, your anecdotal evidence is individualized and still valid.

Let’s take a look at cilantro and some of the health benefits that studies do support as an overview:

  1. High in antioxidants

  2. Antimicrobial

  3. Anti-inflammatory

  4. Anti-anxiety

  5. Potassium

  6. Fiber

  7. Vitamins A, C, K

I’d say these are enough for me to start nibbling on a sprig of fresh yuan sai — although I am very much not a fan of the way its feathery leaves stick to my fingers when I wash and prep. Is it just me?

*As always, remember that it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider or naturopathic professional for personalized guidance before starting any detox protocols. What are your thoughts and experiences with cilantro?

Holistic SLP Tea Time™ roundtable sessions resume in October 🥮

Calling my SLP/healer circle! 🙋🏻‍♀️ New dates for the remainder of 2025 have been announced on the website *and* ticket sales are officially open this week. I’m looking forward to getting these back up and running after the pause this summer.

Those of you who are new here, welcome! 🎉

Holistic SLP Tea Time™ roundtable sessions are a unique online professional networking opportunity for heart-guided SLPs, healers, and parents who are being called to connect with one another and heal in community.

We are a growing circle of heart-forward healthcare and wellness practitioners from around the world with a focus on integrating the whole person and whole soul in all that we do. Here, we come back into balance and fill our cups so that we may show up more fully as our authentic selves.

Sessions are centered around meeting for a cozy cup of tea together, a nod to my heritage. They’re a pretty fun time, and we’d love to have you join.

📣 Spread the love and help guide others here! 📣

So often in life, we are wired to focus on the road ahead without pausing to reflect back on how far we have come. Sometimes we might not have all the words to summarize or do it justice. I invite you to take a moment to share some highlights from your experiences with me during your journey, even if only a sentence or two.

If you or your loved one has received a healing experience, mentorship session, roundtable group experience, and/or holistic speech-language therapy experience, I invite you to write me a quick Facebook review, Google review, or Yelp review.

Your feedback is invaluable in helping my business become more established. For anonymous-to-the-public reviews, please email me to be added to my website instead.

I would like to take a moment here to give a big shout-out to all of you who are spreading the word in community groups and referring your family and friends to me — without even being asked! Thank you for your trust and confidence in my expertise, authenticity, and dedication. You are the reason I’ve been able to build a home for my practice here in New England and to feel so fulfilled on my life path. Thank you! ❤️
